This 2015 Act is concerned with improving the social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of Wales to promote a more integrated approach to promote long term sustainable development. To help public bodies work to the same vision, the Act establishes seven well-being goals. Indicators are being developed to help monitor progress in achieving these goals.
One of the goals is "A resilient Wales" which states that Wales will be "a nation which maintains and enhances a biodiverse natural environment with healthy functioning ecosystems that support social, economic and ecological resilience and the capacity to adapt to change".
The overall programme will be overseen by a Future Generations Commissioner who will work with new Public Service Boards (PSBs) which will coordinate and help deliver the actions needed to achieve the well-being goals.
