Europe's wildlife under threat from nitrogen

A new book, Nitrogen Deposition and Natura 2000 ,  has been published of the proceedings of an international workshop which warns of the risks to European wildlife from nitrogen pollution resulting from industry and agriculture.  The issue presents a serious challenge for the conservation of natural habitats and species under the Habitats Directive.

The workshop brought scientists, policymakers and conservation practitioners together to review new science of nitrogen deposition on biodiversity, and to compare approaches to assessing nitrogen impacts in relation to the requirements of the Habitats Directive.
